Gandhi: The rise of an Era

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was not just a person but he was the rise of an era. With his birth a new era was born. His deeds and words glorified his fame.”

On the auspicious occasion, the 150th birth anniversary of our beloved Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, I would like to express my views for his immense contribution towards the Indian freedom struggle. “Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi” is not just the name of any person, but by the birth of this name there was a birth of an era. He was the personality who gave all his efforts, for the independence of our nation. He was the leader of the independent India. India remained under the British rule for 250 years. Mahatma returned to India, from Africa in 1915 on the request of Shri Gopal Krishna Gokhle. At that instance, his words were the source of inspiration for many. His agendas and policies were non-violent in nature. He strongly believed in non-violence. His father was the source of inspiration for his two beliefs, non-violence and truth.

His major contributions in the freedom struggle were during,

1. World War 1

2. Champaran Agitation

3. Kheda Satyagraha

4. Khilafat movement

5. Non-cooperation movement

6. Salt March

7. Quit India movement

His belief towards the cleanliness, was also of more importance. Cleanliness in any nation brings the prosperity for that nation. Increase in health of the citizens, raises the economy. Gandhi: Bapu is still in our hearts and today we will take a pledge for keeping our surroundings clean and promote the betterment of our health.
